Youth Seats on Boards and Commissions
GovernmentImpact To The Community:
Youth have limited opportunities to not only have their voices heard, but to also play an active role in the decision making within their community. Decisions are made that impact youth and the future generations without youth’s shared experiences, insight on issues, and potential solutions. To ensure that all youth have the ability and opportunity to use their voice to make a positive impact within our community, there should be 2 youth seats required on boards and commissions that impact youth, so that we can create a balance between generations. The youth serving in these boards should be provided with stipends as well because valuing young people’s experiences, voice, and passion for social change means compensating them for their work.
